Mike Foley

Consumed by Winston-Salem’s incredible talent, Mike Foley rediscovered crayons, paint and chalk in 2001 after meeting artists Elsie Dinsmore Popkin, Earline King, Anne Kessler Shields, Alan Calhoun, Cindy Taplin and portrait artist Linda Weaver. After working at Long Haymes Carr Advertising as a creative director, he studied with Sam “The Dot Man” McMillan, Bill Gramly and Frank Rowland. On rare occasions, he is the lucky recipient of ghostly visits by the late Joe King, aka Vinciata.

His work, mostly solo shows, has been exhibited at Chelsee’s, The Millennium Center, The Electric Moustache Gallery, The Garage and Urban Artware. RANDOM COOKIE, his line of “half-baked” greeting cards is sold in 100 stores across America and London. His short films have been featured at a/perture, New Filmmakers NY and SECCA in addition to other independent festivals across the US. Mike has a BA degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin. He lives in Winston-Salem with his wife Jennifer and two kids: Jack, 9 and Ella Minnow Pea, 7.
