Chris Flory and Dick Kucharski

March 30 – April 26, 2014
Meet the Artists at the Gallery Hop,
Friday, April 4, 7 – 10 pm

Up by Chris Flory imageArtworks Gallery presents a two-person exhibit by Chris Flory and Dick Kucharski.

Chris Flory's current body of work is called “It’s Just Paint”, because, as she puts it, "the true subject matter of my painting is always paint." The paintings, which are acrylic on poplar panels, consist of densely-layered brushstrokes, applied without a specific image in mind, but reflecting random thoughts. Flory states" "They have no recognizable subject matter, no things, although there are some paintings in this exhibition which feel like stories to me. I hope that the viewer finds something in my paintings that I might not have put there." Chris Flory was born in Philadelphia, has a BFA in printmaking from Philadelphia College of Art (now University of the Arts), and a MFA from UNC-Greensboro. She has been a member of Artworks Gallery since 1993.

Dick Kucharski is showing a variety of paintings, some surrealistic, some more realistic. He began studying painting with Karen Parker plus others in 2002 at the Sawtooth Center for Visual Art in W-S, NC. He has been an exhibiting member in Assoc. Artists of Winston-Salem, the High Point Art Guild, and the Muddy River Arts Association.
