 Southwestern Flavor, by Marion Adams includes two and three-dimensional works in acrylic, watercolor, and colored pencil focusing on
desert animals, cacti and designs inspired from Southwestern fabrics. Marion has used various media for this show. More detailed work has been rendered in colored pencil, succulents and cacti in watercolor, desert animals in acrylics. The exhibit also includes three-dimensional pieces from rock and on wood.
Marion Adams holds a MAed from Georgia State University and has had a career teaching art, science and math. Now retired, she is able to paint and draw full-time. Her work was published in Ann Kullberg’s “Colored Pencil Secrets for Success.” She has been a member of Artworks Gallery for three years.
 Flora, Fauna, Humans, the work of Alix Hitchcock, pertains to the imagery in her gelatin plate monotype prints. Animals such as foxes, hawks, and doves, plant shapes, and child-like humans in silhouette are intermixed in swirling abstracted environments, creating a sense of timelessness and evocative moods.
  Alix Hitchcock received her Masters in Art in painting from New York University in 1983, and her Bachelor of Fine Arts in printmaking and painting from the University of N.C. at Greensboro in 1973. She was an Instructor in Drawing at Wake Forest University from 1989 to Dec., 2012, when she retired. She has also taught art at Salem College, the Univ. of North Carolina School of the Arts, The Sawtooth Center for Visual Arts, the NC Center for the Advancement of Teaching, Mitchell Community College, East Carolina University, The Reynolds Homestead, Reynolda House Museum of American Art, and the Weatherspoon Museum of Art.
Alix Hitchcock was the Winston-Salem Artist of the Year in 1998, and is a founding board member of Artworks Gallery, a cooperative gallery in Winston-Salem.
