Don Green and Jeremiah Miller
March 1 - 26, 2011
Opening Reception: Friday, March 4, 7 - 10
Artworks Gallery presents a two-person exhibit entitled "Private Space" with wood sculpture by Don Green and oil paintings by Jeremiah Miller.
Don Green's wood sculpture is stained with earth colors and has an anthropormorphic feel alluding to people or icons with an Egyptian feel. His art has always been inspired by nature— land, rocks, woods, water and the ongoing processes in nature — erosion, wear, insect damage and decay. Don says: "Much of my sculpture is concerned with massive weight, compression and the resulting distortion apparent in the forms. I generally allow my processes of working and forming sculpture to be apparent in the finished work."
Don Green has a BA from the American Academy of Art in Chicago, a BFA in art from Illinois Wesleyan University, and a MFA in sculpture from the Univ. of Wisconsin at Madison. Visti his website at: www.dongreenart.com
Jeremiah Miller’s paintings depict friends, family and familiar surroundings.
Miller has a BFA from the Ringling College of Art & Design in Sarasota, FL, and the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL, and a BFA and MFA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Miller’s work is found in numerous private and corporate collections including: the National Park Service, Washington, DC; Prudential Life Insurance, Newark, NJ, University of South Carolina, Sumter, SC and the East Martello Museum, Key West, FL.
