"Juxtaposition" – E. O. Hill and Mona Wu September 11 - October 13, 2007 Artworks Gallery is presenting "Juxtaposition", a two-person exhibit by E.O. Hill, showing digital prints, and Mona Wu, showing monotypes and etchings. The opening reception is Sunday, Sept. 16, 2 – 4 pm. The reception and exhibit is free and open to the public. E.O. Hill is showing images that are computer created and archival printed. Mr. Hill has a BFA in Advertising and Commercial Art from the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida (1967), and his MFA in Drawing and Design from the Instituto Allende, University of Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico (1969). He has exhibited internationally since 1969 and is the recipient of numerous awards and purchase prizes. His work is exhibited in private and public collections. In 1993, his work was included in the National Arts Club Exhibition - "North Carolina in New York" at their National Gallery. His work was featured in the 1994 Florida National "Combined Talents" at Florida State University's Museum of Fine Arts, The Hickory, North Carolina Museum of Art's 1994 Carolina Invitational and exhibited in Kinston, North Carolina at the Kinston Museum of Art. He was included in exhibitions at the Winston Salem, North Carolina, Sawtooth Center's Fiftieth Anniversary Faculty Show, at the Meredith College Invitational Show in Raleigh, North Carolina and in the Fayetteville, North Carolina, Museum of Art's Thirtieth Annual Competiion for North Carolina Artists. The Fayetteville Museum of Arts also presented his work in the Artists of Winston-Salem invitational exhibition. Mona Wu is showing monotypes and etchings. She is a native of China, coming to the United States in 1971. She studied Chinese painting and calligraphy in Hong Kong. Since moving to Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1974, she has taught Chinese Brush Stroke Painting at the Sawtooth Center for Visual Art from 1981-1998. In 1996, Mona received her BA in Art History from Salem College. Starting in 1997, Mona has been taking printmaking classes from David Faber at Wake Forest University. From 1997 through 2005, she worked part-time at the Reynolda House Museum of American Art as coordinator of Older Adults Art Discovery Program. Mona was selected as the Winston-Salem Sawtooth Center for Visual Art Artist of the Year in 2003. (Click on any image for a larger view)
