Kimberly Varnadoe is showing photo based images of mysterious, forlorn spaces, with a focus on windows, doorways, and stairways as passages. Most of the work includes Polaroid emulsion lifts and/or acrylic gel medium transfers. The emulsion lifts are combined with inkjet prints or transferred to glass or frosted mylar film, with a layering technique that creates the nostalgic feeling of memories or dreams. The overall theme relates to impermanence and the passage of time. Ms. Varnadoe has a MFA from The University of Memphis with a concentration in Printmaking and a BFA from the University of South Alabama with a Major in Painting with a Minor in Printmaking. She is currently an Associate Professor of Art at Salem College and has been a member of Artworks Gallery since 2003.

Mitzi Shewmake is showing both clay, cement based, and mixed media works. On exhibit are two pots, two small reliefs, and larger sculpture. Ms. Shewmake is retired from teaching art at W-S State University. She was the first director of the Diggs Gallery. Born in NYC, she attended The Art Students League summer school in Woodstock NY, graduated with a major in art from George Washington University and received her MFA degree from UNCG.
