Chris Flory is showing oil paintings on wood panels of landscape abstractions, with colors influenced by Italy and the beach. Ms. Flory was born in Philadelphia, and has lived in Winston-Salem since 1988. She has a BFA in Printmaking from the Philadelphia College of Art, and an MFA in painting from UNC-G.
Mona Wu is showing work that involves brush calligraphy on handmade paper, drypoint printmaking, and mixed media collage, using written Chinese characters as the main motif in most of her work. Ms. Wu is a native of China and came to the States in 1970 and to W-S in 1974. She earned her BA in Art History from Salem College in 1996. She has been studying printmaking at Wake Forest Univ. since 1997. She has worked at Reynolda House Museum of American Art as Coordinator for the Older Adults Arts Discovery Program from 1997-2005. She was selected as the Winston-Salem Artist of the Year sponsored by the Sawtooth Center for Visual Art in 2003. www.MonaWu.com
